  When it comes to determining the size of a video game’s map, few gaming genres compare to open-world video games. Self-explanatory in the title, open-world video games feature large maps that are available for exploration at any point of the game (never mind that most open-world maps feature difficult-to-defeat enemies unless your character has leveled up from “noob” status). Classical video games often featured a linear progression through map and story, which meant that gamers traveled from point A to point B to complete a single quest. While quests within an open-world game might be linear in their progression, they’ll take you all over the map, allowing you to visit and revisit locations.
